Alternators
A car's electrical system consists of the battery, starter and alternator. The battery provides juice to the starter. When your engine is running, the alternator supports and charges the battery. A bad alternator will damage a good battery if you do not attend to it quickly. Batteries can only be recharged so many times before they'll lose their ability to hold a charge. An old battery that is constantly drained and charged will have a shorter life span than a battery operated under normal conditions. It is always a good idea to have your alternator inspected on a routine basis and have parts replaced if needed, as many of the signs of a failing alternator as similar to that of a failing battery. You might notice a reduction in engine performance when accelerating. You also might see there is a drop in fuel efficiency due to your car straining to run. As mentioned above, the alternator can cause problems with your battery dying. Make sure you make a replacement to a faulty alternator with an OEM part. Only OEM alternators are going to fit your Jaguar make and model perfectly and install correctly when you're making a repair.
